“The Spiegeltent—a sumptuous Belgian pavilion made of bevelled mirrors, velvet, and wood—has returned for the summer, with this bawdy mini circus show. Previously at the South Street Seaport, the venue has now landed smack in the middle of the theatre district, recalling the seedy attractions of yesteryear. Inside, grab a drink and enjoy such sights as a woman who does the splits inside a floating sphere; a barely clothed duo who perform the acrobatic equivalent of intercourse; and a man who balances a feather on a Jenga tower of sticks. The show has topical themes—girls in gorilla masks jump out of an Occupy Wall Street tent—but its primary goal is to titillate and amaze.”
